Cocoa Lounge at Woodfield Mall

Wandering through Woodfield Mall with a friend today, I stumbled upon the Cocoa Lounge. Only two employees evident, and I chatted with both -- but the woman seemed to be in charge. Along one wall, there is a "bar" where you can have hot-cocoa flights -- and they had samples of their basic hot cocoa -- made with Belgian chocolate and reminiscent of the thick, decadent hot cocoa one encounters in Vienna. Along the other wall, there is a range of gorgeous truffles -- shaped rather like lipstick tubes and "hand painted with French cocoa butter" in gorgeous colors that look like expensive enameled decorative items (available singly or in gift boxes with transparent panels to show off the glowing colors). Huge range of flavors, some with booze. In the back, there is a wide range of fudge. A few signs refer to the Chocolate Moonshine Company, but I couldn't tell if that was the parent company or the brand of chocolate used. But it was all very impressive. And the Moonshine theme is carried through not only the truffles but also the hot cocoa.

The woman with whom I spoke said they are still working on their website and hope to have something up on Instagram soon -- so very new. But definitely a fun destination, if you like chocolate. But the idea of having a cocoa flight appeals to me, so I'm hoping to go back when I have more time.

At Woodfield Mall, first floor, kind of towards the middle (if you can see Molly's Cupcakes, you're getting close).
