What's interesting within a 7 or 8 block radius of the captioned coordinates? Anything good on Lincoln around there? I just don't know it that well west of Southport and I'll be there tomorrow.

Wide open on style/ethnicity. Under $20 per person.

Cy's Crab House is just a few blocks north of that intersection. Fair-to middling seafood, fair-to middling service, but probably within your price range.

They're open for lunch only on Fridays (which works for tomorrow), but Four Moon Tavern has pretty fine comfort food.

Not too far from there is Robi's Pizza (Roscoe, just east of Damen). Generally decent thin pizzas. I ordered delivery from them alot when I was over that way. One pizza will feed one or two people, depending on appetite.

Also, on Southport, just south of Addison is Southport Grocery & cafe, which I believe has food for lunch. I also vaguely remember some servicable savory items at Julius Mienl at Addison & Southport.

Wishbone is at 3300 N. Lincoln, if you're in the mood for that kind of thing...

Ginger's Ale House is in that general area. I heard that they have some pretty respectable bar food, but I have never been myself.

Mr. Thai is an option. Not adventurous but decent Americanized Thai. I particularly like their apple salad. It's near Ginger's Ale House at the corner of Ashland and Grace.

That area is surprisingly weak on interesting restaurants but with Whole Foods, Paulina Meat Market, and Trader Joe's, a great area to shop.

Addison to Damen is a little thin for commercial, except on Lincoln (pretty much covered above), there's more around and just west of Damen. To my mind, by far the best upscale place is Volo.

There are several pretty good bars, all a little frat-boy/sports-bar-ish, but serving pretty good quality bar food; Full Moon is one, so are Riverview Tavern (which is attached to Robey Pizza) and The Village Tap.

Oops! Just noticed that you said lunch. Scratch Volo and Village Tap. I forget whether Full Moon is or not; I think yes on weekends, no on weekdays.

Jullius Meinl (Addison and Southport) serves nice sandwiches and soups, great coffee drinks and the best hot Black Forest Ham and Gruyere on a flaky buttery croissant in town, and it is a bargain at $3.50.

I used to live round there - so here's a list of the things I crave lately - maybe you'll surrogate eat for me.

Cafe 28 is at Irving Park and Ravenswood - probably at your limit of distance. Can you have a Bloody Mary at lunch? Have a Bloody Mary at lunch.

Costello's Sandwiches is on Roscoe just west of Damen. If you go, please have the Mess for me. I've wanted one for days now.

Fizz is on Lincoln just north of Belmont. It's ok barfood ... except for the fried potato salad. The fried potato salad makes it all worthwhile.

It isn't glamorous, but Suzie China does dependable Chinese and they are not threatened by special requests or ordering not on the menu. Plus, they have lunch specials. On Lincoln, south of School.

Fernando's on Lincoln, south of Addison, is also not glamorous. They're a neighborhood standby with great comfort Mexican food.

If all you want is quick lunch on the run, try the Burrito House on Lincoln at Addison. The tacos are where it's at. At least, I think they're good - I've most often had them at 2 in the morning.

    Have fun at lunch :)

Full Moon is open for lunch on Fridays - at least according to the Reader listing. And I think it's more of an actor hang than a frat boy hang (not that the tow are mutually exclusive....)

If you can find a nice place to hang out -- admittedly we're in the less-than-optimal season for that -- you can always head over to Paulina Meat Market and pick up some pepperoni, butter and/or mustard, and a baguette.

Cap'n Nemos is at 3650 N Ashland - I haven't decided if I like their sandwiches or not. They're certainly edible. The soups are pretty good

Perhaps a bit out of your range, but Art Of Pizza (3033 N Ashland) might be worth the extended walk...pretty good stuffed & thin slices for the same price ($2.50 i believe).

Got Pizza/Pizza Ria is at Belmont/Lincoln/Addison - haven't tried it in this most recent incarnation.

House of Sushi & Noodles is also at that intersection if you're in the mood for a cheap sushi buffet.

Demir Fast Food (there was some discussion of this a while back) is located at Lincoln & Addison

Burger/Chicken Delights is still dark & closed.

It would be a crime if you did not continue west on Addison toward California and travel two blocks south to Hot Doug's.

Four Moon's definetly open for lunch tomorrow starting at 11:30. I should know, I live in it's attic. Only for a few more weeks though. It's got great bar food...possibly my favorite bar/comfort type food in the city. Tomorrow the special will be a grilled fish sandwich, I got it once and liked it a lot.

i second the four moons...i've had too many terrible meals at wishbone to recommend them. I would go to El LLano on lincoln at damen, 5$ steak lunch special, damn good. or else there is a place right up the street at grace, i think it is called pollo al carbon. another lunch special that is absolutely the same price as mcdonalds but worlds better.

    Erik.
