The good news is they are moving to the space that is currently hom to Lo Garden in Downers Grove which is definitely a step up at that location. I spoke to my server yesterday and she informed me that the same menu and kitchen staff will be making the move. The flyer inside the restaurant mentioned that they will be opening on New years day.

    New Address:
    Lao Sze Chuan House
    1331 W. Ogden Ave
    Downers Grove, IL 60515

    630-663-0303

Hmm, on the one hand, LSC is SOO much better than the abysmal Lo Garden it can't help but raise the tone ofthe area. OTOH, It is a smaller space and I wonder what that says about their level of business.

I once got Szechwan beef at Lo Garden and it was this horrible mass of sticky sweet brown goop with bog standard Schaumburg Kung Pao ingredients, peanuts included.

I think they're moving to the new space because they're losing their lease on the old one. I could be wrong about that..

I'm glad they aren't taking the opportunity to just close up shop for good.

Now if only Tony would bump up the quality at LSC Express near UIC. I'm in their delivery range :)

    Ed,

Your correct about the lease. I'd known about it for a little while, but yesterday was my first confirmation. They actually wrote a small note mentioning the lease, and the fact that they would have preferred to stay in Westmont. When the server noticed me writing down the new address she brought aver a menu from Lo Garden with the explicit instruction that it would not be their menu.

I can't agree more aoubt Lo Garden. OTOH I would disagree with the assumption about the size of the new location. There really aren't very many spaces available in the area.

Yeah, no kidding. They have a blurb on their web site about the move:

I heard somewhere that the strip mall they were in will be turned into another car dealer. Just what Ogden needs, more car dealers.

You are correct. THe Lexus Dealership next store bought the property to use as a parking lot for their dealership.

Wouldn't this thread be more appropriately titled "moving to Downers Grove next week"? As is, it gives the wrong impression.
