Post #1 - December 24th, 2005, 6:30 amMy wife for some time has been very eager to increase her cooking skills. Does anyone know where I can enroll her in clases, besides the ones that cost $100 per session to watch some local chef peel an apple?

Post #3 - December 24th, 2005, 11:14 amWeber has great Grilling Classes too. THey are about $75-$100. THe one that is taught in Buffalo Grove/Arlington Heights is really good. Chef Patrick was great and the class was about 4 hours long and we ate a bunch of food. I went home stuffed...

Post #5 - December 25th, 2005, 9:17 amTin Fish in Tinley Park offers a once-a-month cooking class. I haven't taken it yet, but hope to enroll in the January class. I'll report back after I do.

For the cost of a Weber Smokey Mountain (roughly $150), your time and ingredients, you can take the WSM 5 Step for free.
Many here are graduates and can impress others with our slow cook BBQ.

Post #10 - December 29th, 2005, 11:54 amI've heard good things about the Monday night cooking and eating class at A Tavola. You get to go into the kitchen with the owner and help him prepare a meal, say gnocchi, and then when it's done you go out into the dining room and eat it. I'm super fuzzy on the details but a friend who went said it was an amazing bargain given the hands-on nature of it and the wine which was served with the meal.

Post #11 - December 29th, 2005, 2:33 pma few years back, i got my wife cooking lessons at the inspiration cafe. prices were reasonable, and the money went to a great cause, to boot. she loved the classes.
i checked with IC last year about buying more lessons but was told that they were not then being offered. sounded then like they might be offered at some future date. its worth checking with them.
