    All-

My brother and I grew up having tamales on Christmas eve from a small tortilleria in Indio, CA. (I realize the prepositional phrases in the previous sentence are a little out of whack - forgive me, for i have had a couple of glasses of decent yet cheap Chilean wine.)

He now lives in Lombard (my mother's home town, as a matter of fact). He has no idea where to find tamales, and charged me with the task of finding some for him.

So, I ask the collective: Where could one find good, norteno style tamales out in the western suburbs?

    Thanks,
    -jim

PS- OK, this is only my second post in this forum. my first was in the spring, shortly before i was to haul myself out to chicago (from upstate NY) to spend the summer working downtown. I lived near the Music Box theatre on Southport, and asked the board for suggestions on food near there. I had a great summer, and ate a ton of wonderful stuff, thanks in large part to this board. I'll be moving back there permanently this summer, and can't wait to continue to explore (and hopefully become more than a lurker on this board).

Try de Allende on Highland just south of Roosevelt in the strip mall on the west side of the street. I think you'll be pleased.
