where to find southern style hot vinegar?

A trip home to Arkansas reminded me how much I like sprinkling hot vinegar on cornbread and greens ... but I didn't manage to buy any hot vinegar before the trip ended.

Somewhere on the Northside would be preferred, but to get real bottled hot vinegar - the kind that is in a shaker bottle over sport peppers that you can refill for years - I'd go just about anywhere in Chicago.

Walk into any Steak & Shake -- they're on every table. I think they'll sell them to you too, if you don't feel like illegally dropping an open-topped spicy vinegar bottle into your camel-hair coat pocket.

Look in the condiment section around hot sauces in most major grocery stores. Texas Pete is another brand you can use. Or make your own, using serrano peppers and vinegar. I use habanera peppers and vinegar.

I'd really like an unopened bottle - tho thank you for the Steak and Shake reference.

I've looked in my local Jewel and Dominik's - nothing there - and also in a Wild Oats (?). If I get desperate, I guess I can make my own ... but there's something to be said for buying a condiment that exists purely because there are other people out in the world who use it, too. Plus, I really like that shaker bottle.

If anybody would know where to look, I figured lth people would. Maybe someone else will appear who will know for sure where to go.
