What would Zhivago be like on a Wednesday evening? Specifically, would it be suitable for a book club meeting? Also, how much would it cost per person? Can you order ala carte? I saw it on Check Please and I seem to remember something about a prix fixe menu. Thanks!

I think the key would be to call and find out if they're having entertainment that night. If they are, it could be a pretty lively environment. On the other hand, I've been there on off-times (early Sunday dinner) and it was very much a babushka crowd.

If by ala carte you mean choose every item on your plate (sides, etc), then no, I've never seen anything like that there. But if you mean that you can order whatever you want on the menu, then yes. Zhivago has a normal menu of appetizers and entrees. I've never seen nor heard of any prix fixe menu, but I could be wrong. On the other hand, I do think they have a chef's degustation. This might be another good question to ask if you call.

Finally, if you're not drinking, I think you can expect to spend anywhere from $25-$40.

I reccomend the pelmeni. And the vodka.

    Best,
    Michael
