Folks, I cannot begin to believe my great fortune to be able to present to LTH a second fantastic discovery of mine in the span of just one week. But it is true, and all fans of
my last triumph are bound to be sh*ttin' kittens over this one. The location? I'd prefer you PM me, because I don't want to see this place brought to its knees like the last discovery I announced here, resulting in their being immediately overwhelmed by slavering hordes of Mexican seafood lovers. Suffice it to say that my host also agreed with my decision to be discreet in this matter. The name of the new place, and the following record of words and pictures, however, I can share:
Tilapiteria Casa del Pedro "d"
Although TCdPd appears to be a small storefront from the sidewalk (I won't include a picture here of the exterior for the reasons cited above), it is dramatically larger on the inside than one would anticipate. Here, for example, is the kitchen, which I was allowed to tour by my gracious host, Pedro "d":
Impressive, no? And that is actually just the prep line; my pics of the grill were underexposed. Anyway, TCdPd offers none but the freshest harvest of the day, as illustrated here; the one on the bottom wound up on my plate:
Here it is in all its glory; how they managed to smoke it in 22 minutes (time from order to service) is beyond me:
Note in this image the hewn wooden tables, which are an authentic import from a once-famous Tilapiteria in Mexico and are highly authentic Mexican seafood restaurant furnishings.
This plenitude of pescatory perfection was lip-smacking good, and only mildly bruised by the high-pressure tank evacuation/harvesting tubes. Next summer, I will take up my host's invitation to visit his family's operation in Sonora, where customers are invited to harvest their own dinners:
Catch of the Day? It is to laugh! Catch of the
Minute, I daresay, at
Tilapiteria Casa del Pedro "d"!
