A cry for help here...I am moving from Chicago after 22 bright and luminous years especially in the catagory of gastronomy...

The seven weekends that remain for me will certainly include food, fine wine, wonderful people, atmosphere to match and memories galore....

Help food=lovers all, this is the final call...where should I begin?

SEVEN PLACES NOY TO MISS IN CHICAGOLAND.......

    Thank you to all ...

Well I'd sure review the just-posted GNR winners and try to make sure I'd visited most of them at least once.

Then I'd also think about at least one of the ultra unique dining experiences like Alinea, Avenues, or Moto (or Trotters or Tru but as they are 'older' there's a good chance you've already done them).

I think Blackbird is a can't miss if you've never been there.

Honestly, though, the most fun one can have with food (at least with your clothes on) is at an LTHforum event. I'd say that, more than anything, is a "Don't leave Chicago without it" experience.

Save one Sunday morning for Maxwell Street. You're not likely to recreate that experience elsewhere in this hemisphere (followed perhaps with a polish at Jim's across the Dan Ryan).

I would think that after 22 years the list would depend almost entirely on where you've already been, what your regular stomping (or feeding) grounds have been, places you've unaccountably missed, personal likes/dislikes, etc. Throw a few of those out there for consideration and you'll probably get more pertinent responses.

    Buffalo Girl,
I think on my way to Buffalo, I would stop off and get a big bag of Garrett's caramel popcorn for the road. I can't imagine life without one more serving of their popcorn.

How about the Green City Market at Lincoln Park Zoo? (Wednesday & Saturday mornings)

Where else can you buy fresh produce while being glared at by the king of the beasts?
