A few years ago, a friend used to buy it from the folks running the restaurant on the southeast corner of Montrose and Paulina. I think the restaurant's still there (can't recall its name), so if that's near you it's one place worth trying.

I've seen fresh masa at Jimenez Bros grocery stores (specifically, the one on Roosevelt in Cicero, but these stores are also at 4204 W. North Ave, 2140 N. Western, and elsewhere farther north). This is a relatively new item at Jimenez, so it may be the case that regular Hispanic grocery stores are carrying fresh masa more regularly than they may have in the past (as the Hispanic population in the area grows and grows, I'd guess we'll see more "speciality" items on grocery store shelves).

It's all over the place. Depends where you are, but all of the Mexican grocery stores on North Clark in Rogers Park, West Lawrence in Albany Park, and Ashland in Ukie Village/Wicker Park/Whatever have it in the 'fridge. Certainly, Leon and Guanajuato, neighbors on Ashland near Blackhawk, do. Unless you mean "fresh" as in milled that AM, in which case, no.

You can also get it at Andy's Fruit Ranch on Kedzie south of Lawrence.

(What is a fruit ranch, anyway?)
