Looking for Great Singapore Style Noodles

A great recipe in the Rosengarten report has me craving some Singapore style noodles today. But, I'm feeling too lazy to shop and cook.

Any recs from the well respected LTH crowd for a great Chinese Place for them?

Here are several to choose from:

Yu Noodle, Singapore style, with pork and shrimp. A thick round noodle, a little bigger than spaghetti, stir-fried. A dark yellow or orange color. Good with chili oil.

The Singapore rice noodles at Eat First II were good although the curry powder was somewhat unevenly mixed through.

And, as a matter of fact, Eat First's curry chow mai fun (singapore noodles elsewhere) is one of the best in the city. It's also inexpensive and shockingly fast (average phone call to arrival time 15 minutes). If I need a quick fix and don't feel like going out, Eat First is my go-to place.

AsiaGo, at 176 N. Wells, is better yet, and is generally happy to make items other than their daily specials. I'm particularly fond of their Singapore Noodles, especially if I'm not at lunch time and they're making them up fresh for me.

2. Star of Siam for some cheap, Ameri-Thai. I like their Singapore noodles, located at Illinois and State.

Emerald City, on Cermak next to the firehouse, has karaoke on weekends, I believe. Nice little place (bare bones decor, but dark) with a good bar and a nice lady running the place (Winnie - a sweetheart). The food is surprisingly good, too, though I've only had old standbys there (potstickers, singapore noodles, beef in black bean, etc..).

I tried the Singapore Noodles first, they were the best variant I have had of this dish. I was rather sorry I had to share these noodles.

Little Three Happiness - tasty, but a bit too much green bell pepper and little else in the way of veggies

Lee Wing Wah - good curry flavor, lots of bean sprouts, shrimp, roast pork. Noodles nicely chewy.

Moon Palace - the best and also the most expensive of the three.

Panang (corner of Cermak & Wentworth, I think) has a pretty decent version, plenty of curry & pork, no green peppers.

i like to subtitute ho fun instead of mi fun and both places (being Cantonese) accomodate. Seven Wives has their own char siu pork so the flavor, not to mention grease, is definitely there.

Nice... substituting ho fun. I wonder if they have chau gwai diu (another type of needle shaped noodle I'm sure you're familiar with). I found Ken Kee's lacking in curry flavor the time I tried it there.

Since we are talking Chinese noodle shapes: there is a noodle which is roughly two inches long, maybe 1/3 inch diameter with tapered tips. I privately call it the torpedo. Are these hand made or machine made ... and most importantly what is the name?

I've seen them available for take-out at Chinese bakeries in Chinatown.

I believe we call them "Silver Needle" noodles. In Singapore, we called them "Mouse Noodles". I am drawing a blank on how to spell the Chinese pronunciation in English....
