Medisterpølse

Medisterpølse from Racine's own O&H Bakery...
O&H's medisterpølse are very nicely spiced, in a fashion related to but distinct from that of their better known German analogues.

When we've been to O&H, we've been in the middle of nice-weather day outings to Kenosha and Racine, so we've just bought the sausages in packs from the freezer, which we stick in a cooler where they are happy to 'chill' until whenever it is we get back to Chicago. To be honest, I don't know if they regularly sell the sausages fresh — I would guess they do, when they make a batch of them — and I'd certainly like to get them in that state some time, but the frozen ones are darn good...

There are four O&H locations but we've only been to the large one on Durand (address below) — the other locations can be found on the O&H website (N.B., for some reason, I can't find mention of the sausages on the website).
Medisterpølse, with a simple potato accompaniment, maybe some cabbage preparation on the side as well, some good mustard, dark bread, a cold beer, and an ice-cold shot of
snaps...
