For a minute there, I thought sazerac's "Chicken 'Kerala' [recipics]" was a typo. But then I did a search, and found AfriKhana: Moi Idlis, Moi Vadais [recipics]

A quick google doesn't find anyone else using it, but it's a fun term for what sazerac and some of the other great posters on this board do so well. I propose we talk it up.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the word. I think I originally wanted to indicate [recipe; pics], then I just got lazy and settled on 'recipics'. Besides, on some days, I just can't spell

The word is free to use. Freely. :)

edit: I just remembered (for the etymologically conscous), recipics is short for 'recipictorial'

MAKE magazine, a fascinating hybrid of low-tech and high-tech DIY (knitting to software hacks, and everything in between including hacking your circadian rhythm, making wind generators...) has a term they've created called "instructables", which incidentally has its own website, http://www.instructables.com/

They've set that up to make it simple for people to attach pictures to instructions, and the "recipics" here is merely a variant on that.

Our moderators might want to look at instructables.com for inspiration on helping us help each other with illustrated cooking manuals.

    Ann,

I noticed the new term 'recipics' too and liked it very much. He should demand royalties from those who use it without permission.

And mind you, in general I loathe neologisms...
