Burritto Buggy to start selling indian food as well

One of my co-workers says the guy behind the counter said they are going to start selling a few indian dishes along with their usual mexican food and see how it goes. Hope so, Indian Express is just not getting it right (been there about four times) yet.

The guy behind the counter said maybe next week. But I don't know how set that is. He also said he'd be starting this week so... And he gave us a sample of some curry chicken he's testing. Hot and a bit too salty.

Ok, today I saw that they were selling chicken curry. But sorry, didn't try it.

Hell, I'd just be happy if they came back and reopened their place in the Grey Bunker at Clinton and Monroe. That was the best lunch for blocks around; curry would be an interesting addition, but not key to my enjoyment.

Oh, I just thought it would be interesting since there's such a lack of good take-out curry in the Loop. Of course, no idea if it's any good yet.

The Burrito Buggy on Van Buren has gone waaaay downhill in the past 3-4 years. 8-10 yrs ago the place was PACKED at noon. Now I walk by and there's like 5 people inside with no line. I think the burritos aren't nearly as good as they used to be. The quality of the meat has gone down (not that it was anything to write home about to begin with), as has construction. I believe the new-ish owners are Indian, so that would explain the new menu.

I personally would rather have them convert it to an all Indian shop and do it right rather than putting yet another thing on the menu and having it be 3rd rate. They could call it the Tandoori Tuk Tuk

Just tried the Burrito Buggy chicken curry. Not bad. For $5.99 you get a generous portion of chicken curry served in a separate Styrofoam cup. You also get a beef samosa, pita bread, rice, and a salad. I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken which had a fairly rich flavor. It compares well to cheap curries I've had on Devon and elsewhere. The samosa was nothing special, but not offensive. The pita bread went well with the chicken. I wish they gave you more, as I ran out of bread and still had most of my chicken left. The rice is a mistake. They give you a mexican rice when I think a simple white rice would go much better. The salad was just lettuce and tomato.

All in all, I would get it again and request additional bread and no rice. This is the only whiff of Indian in the South Loop, and, as such, it is fairly satisfying.

Giallo is correct. The rice is a mistake but you could do far worse than this curry. Would I go out of my to get it? No, but since I work a few blocks away from it, i would eat it again.

Well looks like the Burrito Buggy on Van Buren has expanded the Indian quite a bit recently. Just had a vegetable curry that was quite a bit better than I expected. They seem to have the standards (dal, chicken tikka, tandoori, lamb curry, etc).

$5 out the door for vegetable curry, rice, samosa, salad, naan (pita). Only oddity was that the salad was topped with pico de gallo. LOL.

They also have some Mediterranean items.
