I have a set of the original Belgique cookware (from before they got absorbed by Macy's). This is the stainless stuff, with the Aluminum bottoms, and very clean lines. And it's darn good cookware... easy to handle, good performance, and easy to clean.

I'm not crazy about the new style... too bulgy, and I don't like copper bottom pans. I'm desperate for a larger sauce pan to compliment my set. Is there any source for this stuff? I really need something between my 2 qt sauce pan, and the Dutch oven. I will probably end up finding some compromise pan that I'm not totally happy with. But I really like my Belgique stuff, so I have to at least try to find some more.

    Any help apprciated.

    Eric E,

Unfortunately I can't offer help but I agree about the old Belgique cookware. I didn't know about the changes of ownership and style, which I lament with you. I was lucky to get a second Belgique Dutch oven to go along with my original set and that one is now -- and long has been -- my prime cooking vessel (it appears in many photos on this site).

    HI,

I sound like a broken record on these matters: go to e-Bay. Anything that is mass produced, like your cookware, shows up eventually on e-Bay. All it takes is some patience.

I had been looking at eBay... you're right it does occasionally pop up there. Finally I found a piece of the old Belgique stuff. There's a 16-qt stock pot, which I don't need. But now that I've seen that, I finally remember what it was called. The old good Belqique was "Belgique Professional." Now at least I have a decent search phrase. I'm sure I'll eventually come across one.

Anyway.. they did cooks a disservice by discontinuing this excellent cookware in favor of their current models, which seem to be more for looks than for cooking.
