I'm hosting a largish group (10-12) of out-of towners for a conference, and would like to find a place that could seat us all at one table, where the food is excellent, and that won't break the bank (let's say we could feed 10 for about 500). South of the Loop is preferred.
I thought about Chinatown, but was hoping for other suggestions that were a _little_ more formal (only a little).
Any thoughts?

Post #2 - February 27th, 2006, 10:11 amYou might give Gioco a call. They often host large parties and have banquet menus. They also own Opera across the street if you prefer pan-Asian to Italian. If your group does not have heavy drinkers or wine aficionados you could probably keep it within $50-$70/person. Here's their website:

Post #3 - February 27th, 2006, 10:37 amIt's one of my favorite Italian spots. There is a newish place across the street called Zapitista (sp?) that I have not tried, but looks interesting. You might want to investigate for your group!

Post #4 - February 27th, 2006, 11:52 amtry cuatro, it's a latin restaurant just further south of gioco, opera & zapatista. I've heard they have a private room and accomodate large parties.
