Evidently they are putting an Italian joint called Johnny D's in the space formerly occupied by 120 Ocean Place in Wheaton. Apparently this place used to be in Schaumburg. Frankly, I thought that Wheaton would get a bigger name place in that space.

Anybody know anything about this Johnny D's? Additionally, I think that they are putting a Brian's Char House in the space above the Paper House Store.

    Neither excites me too much.

I went to the Schaumburg location often, but didn't eat very much. We mainly went there because it was very cigar friendly. We'd sit there, smoke a few cigars and have a few beers. It wasn't cheap, but the selection of beers was pretty good as well as a few decent single malts.

I'm not a fan of Italian food so all I ever tried was the pizza and the deserts. Both were good, but I wouldn't make it a destination for either.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that one of those locations that can't seem to keep a restaurant open for more than a couple years? It's on Schmale, right?

Anything over there would beat the Burger King and Baker's Square, and I'm not a fan of Manhattans and the Village, but I can't picture anything going above the Paper House. I'm still upset that the downtown bakery next to the shoe shop is gone.

Not on Schmale....downtown Wheaton on Hale (120 N Hale; hence the name 120 Ocean place....berry berry cwever!). Right across from the old theater on the same side of the street as Front Street Cocina (which started out on Front Street, in case you were wondering!).

Schmale is chow wasteland. Always has been; always will be. The places that are on Schmale now have been there for some time now (3+ years).
