Since remodeling our kitchen, I've had no success in selling our old range and fridge. I've had enough of them hogging garage space and am ready to have them taken away. I'd also like to write them off... Can anyone suggest a worthy beneficiary? I'm sure there's a group out there doing good for people that could use them (they're in fine condition), I just thought I'd fish for suggestions beyond the old standards who will resell them.

    Thanks!

Try calling your local Catholic Church and get a hold of the people who handle the St. Vincent de Paul Society. They will give the appliances to fanilies who cannot afford it. We have donated a sleeper sofa to them in the past for people who did not have anything to sleep on...

    A good cause...

If you really want to ditch them and don't want to take a write off you might consider freecycle. My girlfriend has had good luck finding people that are willing to come pick up and take large items that she's no longer in need of.

You probably have a Habitat for Humanity "Restore" in your area. The one in my area will pick up appliances that are less than 10 years old. The donations are tax deductible and are sold in their "Restore" to raise funds for Habitat.

If any of these unwanted appliances happen to be manufactured by Dacor, DCS, Wolf, Dynasty, etc. - I'll gladly take them off your hands.
Otherwise, you may want to check out the aforementioned Chicago Freecycle or Craigslist.

You might also try a place like Ronald McDonald House or a place like that. Have you checked out any soup kitchens or food pantries yet? Catholic Charities might be a good source since they run a variety of social services.
