im celebrating my 5th wedding anniversay with my hubby this weekend. i need recs for either downtown or the suburbs (i'd say not more than a half hour from oak park). we're youngn's too. around 25 and looking for something not to fancy nor to stuffy.. know what i mean? i haven't had much time to research.. i've been running around doing errands and had dr appointments. uGh i found out that i might have to have my gallbladder taken out... soo maybe this should be a good one since i might be eating mush later. ha. TIA!

What do you want to spend? That's the real question.

La Piazza, if you haven't been, might be right. Does that $100 include wine?

if i didnt have chronic pancreatitis, i'd include wine! it would be funny to have the hubby drink almost the entire bottle (minus the 1 glass i can tolerate) by himself and get silly drunk on our anniversary. out of our 5 yrs of marriage this is something i have yet to see. yup la piazza is delish, but i wanted to try something new. sorry im an indecisive these days and cant seem to limit my options besides not going to somewhere we've already been to.

Have you been to Cafe Le Coq in Oak Park? I had a delicious dinner there about 1 year ago. Not trendy, but an enjoyable meal.

Cafe Spiaggia. Great views, nice food, and afterwards you can forget to say the "cafe" part when people ask where you went....

Yeah, you should be able to do Cafe Spiaggia for two for $100 or so.

$100 would also be enough for a blowout at Sabatino's, which can be wonderful in its oldschool italian-american way.

Cafe le Coq and Hemmingway's would be good if you want to stay in Chicago and want french. If you want french and are willing to travel, you might try Bistro Banlieue in a strip mall in Lombard or one of the many places downtown.

Do you have any preferences for type of food?

West Town Tavern. My standby for people who want a "nice" restaurant and don't want to blow a paycheck. Excellent regional American food, and most, if not all, entrees are under $20. A great, varied by-the-glass wine list for your hubby. You could get in and out of there for well-under $100 if your wine intake is limited.

It is also located no more than 20 minutes from Oak Park.

Not to sure. I'm gonna bug him to see if he has a preference. I'm pretty much open to anything.
