I had lunch today at the Shogun restaurant in Racine. This is one of three new ethnic restaurants that have come to downtown Racine since January. For $7.95, I enjoyed a Philadelphia roll, shrimp roll, soup, salad, and tea at the tiny sushi bar. The Philadelphia roll, made with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and scallions was excellent. Lox and bagels in Racine, minus the bagels. We've enjoyed 3 hibachi dinners since their grand opening, with the scallops being our favorite.

We live in Racine, but after a few stops at Shogun, we are back to making the 20 minute trip down to Soons in Kenosha. The building isnt as nice as shogun, but the food is much better and Soon and Bob are super hosts.

Its also 3 minutes from Tenutas, so we can eat at Soons and then pop by Tenutas to stock up on italian goods and see if any hidden treasures in the red tag wine specials.

Fishie, we've never tried tried Soons. However, we've lunched at Honada's on 75th Street in Kenosha a few times. Dennis Ghetto likes it too(3.5 stars). For Chinese, I'm a Main Moon fan.

CSD - always nice to hear from a fellow eater!

Soons is worth a try. Not nearly as nice as Shogun or Hunada, but a great tiny neighborhood place....and the food is better IMHO. Lots of great noodles, some korean dishes, in addition to the sushi. And Soon is always honest about what is particularly good that day.

So whats the third ethnic place in Racine? Shogun and the thai place in the century market, is there another?

    Fishie,

The third restaurant is Asiana Bowl (Korean) and it will be less expensive than Shogun or Sticky Rice. Asiana Bowl, located at 423 6th will open in September.
