    LTH,

So what does America's top morning "news" broadcast do when it loses Katie "America's Sweetheart" Couric? Why it goes to America's Sweetheart in Waiting.

Gary Wiviott did What? That's right, this afternoon Gary Wiviott took a camera crew from NBC's Today Show to Honey One Barbecue for some conversation about cheap alternatives to fast food lunches. Supposing it doesn't end up on the cutting room floor, the segment is scheduled to air some time tomorrow morning between 7 and 10 am (4/19).

What'd be cool (for someone with more tech expertise then me) to do, would be to record this show and put it up on a site where we could all access it.

Jeez, guess I'll have to take some Dramamine and check this out. The Today Show and it's syrupy denizens make me nauseous. I'm sure the hard-hitting, well informed hosts will probably be interested in which flavor of Open Pit he prefers on his McRib.

    HI,

After dinner this evening, Josephine and I dropped by Honey 1 to chat up Robert Jr. We each bought rib tips to snack on while watching the show tomorrow morning.

    Thanks for the heads up!

    Ed,

We were at Honey 1 a little after 5. The segment is about $5 lunches and alternatives to national chains, and they filmed at a number of Chicago locations, Lou Mitchell's and the Billy Goat to name two.

While it'd be very cool to be on the Today show, there is, of course, a very real chance my small part will end up on the cutting room floor.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

    Bill,

I've thought of 3-4 responses, each one 'worse' than the next, all of which would be deleted from the board. :)

Looks like G Wiv (and Honey 1) got bumped for Dennis Quaid and Jeff Bridges. My guess would be it will run tomorrow, unless they book Randy Quaid and Beau Bridges.

LOL. Of course one must consider that the "Today" show once felt that live coverage of Katie Couric's colon (ahhh, the wonders of alliteration) was the most important thing that could be aired on television so perhaps being bumped by Quaid and Bridges is not so bad by comparison. Yet I must admit that I feel there's now 3 hours of TiVo capacity utterly wasted . . . I wonder what QVC was broadcasting from 7-10?

    HI,

While Gary may have gotten less than 10 seconds of face time, he managed: 1) Get his name out there and title of food critic, 2) See Honey 1 has a $4.99 lunch special. Nobody else got their name out there except for Billy Goat Tavern.

Fun to see someone you know. Better it was within the first hour of the show, when most will see it before heading out the door.

    Cathy2

Do they repeat within the 3-hour block that's shown here? If so, watch for it again around 9:50, I would guess.

    Cathy,

It was a little like sex, brief, but very good for me, not sure about anyone else, but really good for me. :)

They also mentioned LTHForum in a caption below my name. Went three for three, LTHForum, Honey 1 and my name, like I said, brief, but very cool.

Oh, and the premise was very good as well, inexpensive alternatives to national chain, in particular fast food, restaurants.

    Enjoy,
    Gary
