A friend of mine just asked me if I knew any recipes for a soup that he had last night at KC's Cafe Provence: a carrot-peach cream soup. I told him I'd never heard of such a thing, but that I bet I knew of some folks who had...

He said that it had very simple flavors, very clean interesting for him, but that his 2-yr-old godchild also liked it.

    Any thoughts anyone?

Not exactly, but it reminds me of the Armenian Soup served at the Cranks health food chain in London. It uses dried apricots and red lentils, and is kind of sweet and earthy - the recipe is here. Carrots could be used in place of the lentils as a thickener (maybe 1/2 to 3/4 pound for 4-5 cups liquid), and I would experiment with dried peaches as the fresh ones are out of season and might be too watery. It could easily be cut with cream, but as both peaches and carrots are sweet you might need to up the lemon juice...

Tnx fillay--it looks quite interesting, no matter what. I'll pass it on to my friend.

BTW, I just *love* your sig! And, is it maximally true, or what?! That's exactly right.

:D My wife is Catholic, my deep ancestors are Huguenots from the Jura by way of Montréal. We're like the Beaucastel of marriages...

We had dinner tonight at Au Pied de Cochon in Montreal. When the waiter brought our Corbieres, and announced that it was mostly Grenache with a bit of Mourvedre, I told him your sig line. In French, of course! :)

His eyes got wide, he laughed a bit and then shook his head in agreement. "C'est vrai" he said. And so it is.
