This afternoon I enjoyed a special occasion lunch at Michael. The room is pleasant and peaceful. The menu is not extensive, and one option is a prix fixe for $22, which is what the two of us decided on. It includes soup or salad, any of the entrees, and dessert. It was a damp and chilly day, so we happily chose the spring pea soup. Very nice. Sort of creamy but not too rich. (Can't wait for those fresh peas at the farmer's market!) For the entree, I chose the beef tenderloin tips "au vin rouge". Tender beef, mushrooms, lardons of bacon, in an amazing wine sauce, with a square of very rich scalloped potatoes. I wanted to lick the plate. My dining companion had the fish of the day (escolar) which came with morel cream sauce and bernaise and various vegetables. We ate slowly to prolong our enjoyment. The creme brulee was quite good as well. Service was attentive but not intrusive. All in all, an excellent experience.
