hey! i am coming to chicago this weekend. On Friday I have a meeting until 6:00 at the merchandise mart and then meeting a fairly large party at Carnivale for 7:45. I would love a suggestion for a nice romantic, sexy place to have a drink before dinner - thanks...

I would recommend Nine's bar because of it's proximity and design. I don't exactly know what you mean by sexy but take a look at the pics at the link.

Fulton Lounge is really close to Carnivale, and a great & good-looking place for drinks. FYI - they don't open til 5pm.

I'd recommend the bar in the lobby of House of Blues Hotel (not the restaurant/club). I haven't been in there in a couple years, but unless they've redone it, the most apt comparison I can make is...it looks like what you'd imagine an opium den to look like. (And actually, I brought a Persian ex-boyfriend there, and he pretty much confirmed that impression.) Lush fabrics on the walls, comfy couches, low lighting, a very tactile environment and very sexy. The House of Blues is a few blocks east of the Merchandise Mart, so it's in the opposite direction of where you're ultimately heading, but not really out of the way.

thanks for the tip. We have been there and it is very sexy, indeed. I just wanted to check out some place that I have never been. I have been to Nine, too - and I have to admit that i found it sorta cold.
