Usually I'm the one recommending the restaurants, but I need help!
My family is coming in town next month for my brother's graduation and we need helpf finding a place for Saturday night dinner for 12. They're staying off N. Michigan. We're eating out for Italian the next night so I need something else. Not too expensive and not too loud because I have two 80-some year old grandmothers.
Grand Lux doesn't take reservations on Saturdays. They've been to Bistro 110 before. Other suggestions in the neighborhood?

How about Bandera? The only times I've been to Bandera were with out-of-towners ... but they seemed to enjoy it. The room is pretty, the food isn't confrontational and the view is outstanding.

Off the top of my head, some North Boul Mich, non-wallet-breaking options include The Saloon, The Grill on the Alley and Rosebud on Rush. The Grill on the Alley has a small room that could probably fit 12 if you want something more private.

    The Saloon
    200 E. Chestnut
    312-280-5454

    Grill on the Alley
    909 N. Michigan
    312-255-9009

    Rosebud on Rush
    720 N. Rush

I have a friend who recently attended a dinner for ten at Alinea -- Ouf. I wouldn't want to see that bill!
I've always found Greek Islands fun for a group. Pedestrian, maybe, but they're used to group dining so they can handle it well and don't get all flustered and out of sorts like they do at some other places. I also have had a few good large group experiences at Sangria tapas bar in the Weed St. District.

    How about Bin 36?

I did a party there for about that size. They made a special menu for us and gave us a per-person rate that was pretty reasonable.
