Tribune ranks city's best tacos.

Dont know if anybody got a chance to catch it but in Thursdays "at play" section of the tribune they gave their ranking of the citys best tacos. I guess they tried hundreds of steak tacos from around the city and these were the finalists...

Ive only been to La Pasadita and theirs are quite good, I was kind of surprized not to se La Palapita, on Milwaukee make the final list.

The usual 10-15 minutes wait for tacos at LaRosita at lunchtime approached 45 minutes - call it the Tribune effect.

If you like La Pasadita's tacos and live near Des Plaines you'll really enjoy Las Asadas on Lee Street. Flavors very similar to that of La Pasadita, at least with the steak. What I really like about this place is the fresh cilantro they put in their tacos & burritos and the homemade green sauce. Decent kick to it.

Good spot for tacos here in Des Plaines. Have not tried any other places other than Maria's, which is much more upscale, and El Famous Burrito, which is pure gluttonous enjoyment.

I just came back from Tio Luis, and I don't really know what the Tribune finds so exceptaionl about these tacos. They're perfecty competent, but they lack the char and zing of places like Zacatacos (my current favorite, the 59th Street location.) I had both the carne asada tacos, and the cecina tacos. Unfortunately, I haven't been to any of the other mentioned places, so I can't compare, but, on their own, they tasted like your basic steak tacos. Zacatacos at least grills their meat, which imparts a whole range of flavors (which is weird, as the Tribune characterized Zacatacos steak tacos as lacking flavor compared to the top four. I've never been to the Berwyn location--didn't even know it existed--so maybe it's different there, I don't know.)
