My friends and I often go out for something to eat after church at Willow Creek or volunteering nearby. Although this area has plenty of restaurants in the area, they're not dining establishments that I really care to spend my money and calories. Here are a few restaurants that immediately come to my mind - so what would you recommend that I may have forgotten?

    Chili’s
    TGIFriday’s
    Macaroni Grill
    Garibaldi’s
    Steak n Shake
    IHOP
    Jimmy John's
    Subway
    Jersey’s
    Brass
    Assembly
    The Millrose
    Barn of Barrington

    Thanks!

I have a client out there. My contact recommended some place called Boloney's (possible misspelling there) in Barrington. That is the only non-chain possibility I know of....

I go to Willow too and have similar feelings about area food offerings. If you go south a bit more on Barrington Rd, there's a place called Cafe Lulu. It's a family place converted from a fast food place. Kind of a weird feeling, but it's not a chain, and the food's not bad.

I've worked in this area for the last 17 years and feel your pain... Try these.. Joe's pizza on Wise Rd. has great house made italian beef and giardinara. Hot Wok Village on Golf features Indian style cinese food. Better still is India House 1521 Schaumburg rd.)...one of the best lunch buffets around. Yu's mandarin (200 Golf) isn't bad. Lots of local Chinese seem to like the chinese buffet behind Garibaldi's (can be pretty tasty for lunch). Kelsy Road house has decent Burgers/bar type food (but not better than Millrose). Barn of Barrington Sunday brunch is an interesting option if you haven't tried it yet. Ther's also a good korean bbq place on Golf next to "beyond the Reef" aquarium store (? name flashy neon sign not in english ). Hope this helps.

What I was going to suggest too - Hot Wok (at the intersection of
Barrington Road and Golf Road) has by far the best Indian-Chinese
food in the city. You may or may not like the cuisine- but its the best
of its kind, at any rate.

India House is nearby - and the lunch buffet was decent the one time I
tried it. A more "homey" Indian-Pakiastani restaurant, with a menu
similar to (but an ambience better than) the cabbie joints seen on
Devon, is Pepper-n-Salt, also on Schaumburg Road IIRC. You can get
thigns like Nehari there, which you cant get at India House.

If you go down Golf Road a bit, towards Schaumburg, there is a bakery
called "Hot Breads" - which bakes up Indian-style bread-based things.
That is, Tandoori Chicken Crossaints, Paneer-cheese crossaints
etc. Supposedly very popular (though I havent tried it myself). Also,
on Wise Road IIRC, is the Indian restaurant called "Priya", which has
been highly recd to me on a couple of occasions (but is also a spot
    I havent gotten to yet).

It may be a chain, but one place I always go to when in that area is
Culvers - its also on Wise Road I think? It may be a chain, but they
do a fine custard (and there are no Culver's, and hardly any
custard-joints, in Chicago or the North burbs, the closest I think
is a new one in Arlington Heights).

On the way to Culvers from Barrington Road, one passes at least
2 Mexican taquerias - both are clearly not chains, but I havent
stopped at either so far. There is also a Mexican grocery store
or two nearby, which may have some food.

And if one is really pushed for time... there is a White Castle on
    Barrington Road too ;-)

oh...another favorite but in Lake Zurich...Tacos el Norte..in the strip mall on the corner of Rand rd. and Rt.22 very good tacos. There's also another Culvers near 12 and Dundee Not a bad chain.

Am new to both this site... and to the Hoffman Estates area. (will be staying there for a hockey tournament over the weekend.) Can anyone suggest a great burger and beer "joint", as well as a good breakfast spot??? Many thanks!

    Welcome to LTH!

For breakfast, Richard Walker's is on Roselle Road just north of Golf Road; I believe it's technically Schaumburg but it's thisclose to Hoffman Estates. They serve egg and pancake specialties. He is related to the family that started the famous Walker Brothers chain in the Chicago north and northwest suburbs, but his chain is separate. IMHO his apple pancake is not quite as good as the one at Walker Brothers, but it and the rest of the food is still pretty good (and besides, Walker Brothers' nearest location, in Arlington Heights, isn't all that close to Hoffman Estates).

Buffalo Wild Wings has a resturant in Hoffman Estates. I'm not sure of their burgers but I do like their wings, even though the wings are small in size. Always a great place to watch sports.

A great spot for burgers/sandwiches is the Assembly in Hoffman Estates. I have never had a bad meal here and as a plus they have a decent beer selection.

The restaurant is located just off of Barrinington Rd (S. of 290 and N. of RT 72 (Higgins))

A bit of a haul depending on where you're staying
    The Woodfield Mall area
Wildfire, Rosebud, and Entourage have really good (if a little pricey) burgers.
John Barleycorns has an outpost too. There's a Red Robin in the mall.

Pete Miller's is another steakhouse which recently opened in Schaumburg (Woodfield Mall area). I haven't been to that location, but both their other locations (in Evanston and Wheeling) have sports bar rooms and offer excellent burgers.

When working in the area, we have always preferred Apple Villa over Richard Walkers:

    3101 N Barrington Rd
    Hoffman Estates, IL 60192

Better variety, service and food imo.

I'll have to try them sometime. Though they're a dinner only operation. They share the building with Davis Street Fish Market which I've wanted to try since they do have lunch specials (I can be a bit of a penny pincher).

My co-worker who lives in Hoffman Estates also wanted to mention The Assembly as great place to go in your area. For breakfast he recommends a place called Apple Villa on Barrington Rd (north of I-90).

    Funny, that's a rather narrow-minded belief.

I have a lot of love for Franco's Cucina in Streamwood (just N. of Golf off of Barrington Rd). If you like Italian this place has it alll. From pasta to pizza to their incredible Italian turkey sandwhiches I really love this place. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. They also have a bakery which puts outs some incredible looking pasteries and breads.
