    Buongiorno CdTPF,

I just received word over the Rabbi-line from Michael Dorian, documentarian extraordinaire, that his gastronomical meisterwerk will have its Chicago premiere at the Chicago Indiefest sometime between July 28th and August 4th. The specific time(s) and date(s) are TBA, but the film has been enthusiastically accepted and will most likely be featured in a prime time spot (unlike the Sunday at noon screening he had in Memphis, for example). Accordingly, I think this will present a most opportune time for me to visit Chicago and make an appearance at the festival screening, and, naturally, for a significant show of force from LTHforum. As I (and others here) have written before, Michael's film is a very entertaining and exceptionally well-done piece of work, covering every issue surrounding pizza from regional styles, history, delivery drivers, and artisanal vs. mass-prodcued pizza, to the dramatic and hilarious story of the US Pizza Team's journey to Italy's World Pizza Championships. As soon as exact times are announced, I will post them here; you may also check Michael's website at www.thepizzamovie.com or his new Myspace site: myspace.com/thepizzamovie (I told him to beware of 45 year old Calzones posing as 15 year old Pizza Margherita - presumably with virgin olive oil...)

On a side note, anyone planning on coming to Las Vegas in the near future -- please PM me if you'd like to get in touch and go out to some out of the way, ethnic/chowist-type places to eat while visiting. Jim in Logan Square and Stevez: I apologize for my inability to do the same when you visited last, but a carless and broke Rebbe is a schande and does not a good dining companion make. Luckily (for those who have been following my Job-like trials these past 5 months) the tide has turned and I'm back on my feet and ready to entertain LTHer's in the Desert of the Damned. Let me know if I may be of assistance and/or companionship.

    Viva La Pizz',

    Ciao LTHF !!

The definite times and dates for the Chicago screeings of Michael Dorian's gastro-cinematic masterpizz, Pizza! The Movie, have been announced!!

    The skinny:

(All screenings at the Village Theater, 1548 N. Clark)

    Friday August 4th at 4:00 p.m.
    Sunday August 6th at Noon
    Monday August 7th at 4:00 p.m.

In addition, there will be a special screening at the Seneca Hotel, 200 E. Chestnut, on Wednesday, August 9, at 9:00 pm.

I don't think I need say more about the magesterial grace and sheer wonderfulness of this film. In addition, the director will be in attendance at all screenings, and one of the "stars" (a pizza maven who is known 'round these parts as HR... ahem ....) might just make an appearance at the Sunday and Monday screenings.

Be sure to get your tickets soon - it would make Michael very, very happy to have his work seen by people like us who know and care about pizza, not to mention food and art in general.
