94th Aero Squadron

Is this WWI replica in Wheeling overlooking Palwaukee
airport still open ? I haven't seen or heard anything about it
in some time-has anyone been lately ? My last visit was at
least 10 years ago. Thanks

Everytime I drive by this place (maybe twice a year), I think to myself, "I should really stop there sometime." I believe folks who've been there have posted here and on CH, but don't have a very clear picture of what goes on there. Seems like a personality to be reckoned with.

haven't been there in years but they had decent steaks, etc. and some good garlic mashed potatoes.

as i recall the menu is somewhat small, so if you're expecting something aside from the main steakhouse fare you might be disappointed.

I've been to the 94th aerosquadron in Columbus, although the last time I went there was before my senior cotillion in 1990. It was a charming little place -- maybe a little corny with all the WWII memorabilia. I can't remember anything specific about the food, but I have the lingering feeling that it wasn't very good.

We held a baby shower for my sister here two years ago. They were very nice to work with during the entire process. The decor inside is very dated, but oh well. From what I recall of the food, it was good, and people enjoyed it. They set up the lunch buffet style, and it was all timed very nicely. As part of the package, we were supposed to get a sweet table, but they forgot to set it up probably b/c we brought our own cake. They gave us 4 gift certificates for their Sunday brunch to comp us for the error.

The brunch buffet offered a wide variety of choices. I loved their egg station - you can get an omelet, eggs benedict, eggs florentine, and eggs cooked any way you want! So my experiences have been a little untraditional in that I never actually ordered off the menu. The strange thing about the buffet were the kids' choices and the desserts. They had breaded chicken strips and fries for kids if the brunch buffet didn't appeal to them. The dessert table was pretty blah - like they were prepackaged mini cakes & such. Perhaps it's a good thing that they forgot to give us the sweets during the shower.

We stopped in there yesterday and had some drinks on the terrace outside. We thought we might have dinner there another time, although the menu does seem rather limited. They do special events there, like mystery dinner theater and what looked an awful lot like rave parties from the flyers that were available. Sort of all things to all people, I guess, but it is a pleasant. Some people were there with kids, who seemed to enjoy the place.

It's fun to sit on the patio when the sun is going down as there are alot of planes going in and out.I've never eaten there but have noticed a strong Eastern European accent "Russian"? amongst the employees.I does seem they made a management change a few years back.Pretty cool place.
