Anyhow, they opened 7/1/2006. I ran over there for brunch this morning. As expected for a weekday, it wasn't too crowded. Until 11:30 am, the menu is purely breakfast. Then, they switch to lunch, and they also serve dinner.
I arrived around 11am, so my only option was breakfast. The breakfast menu is a combination of the expected with some new-fangled stuff mixed in. Tofu with eggs. Some more interesting (Bongo Room'esque) pancakes and such. Breakfast burritos.
I settled on the Lakeview omelette with artichockes, ham, tomato, and parmesan cheese. I'm not an omelette expert, because I enjoy ordering sweet stuff, but my greatest complaint is that the omelette was so thick that when I added salt and pepper, the seasoning didn't carry through the entire thickness of the omelette. I kind of had to salt and pepper on the edges and on each bite. While I enjoyed this combination of ingredients, I kind of wished that it had a little bit more punch, possibly with some garlic, onion, or sun dried tomatoes. It came with hash browns and toast, which were fine. I got a side of fresh fruit, which was fresh. The coffee was good and robust.
Service was attentive. The atmosphere is updated, but a bit plain. They just need to put some art on the walls.
Given my one experience, I don't know that this will be a destination restaurant, but it may very well be a covenient option for those in the immediate area.
