Tomorrow morning, I have brunch plans w/my friend who is in town for a wedding. As a midpoint, she always suggests Walker Bros. To be honest, I'm not such a fan. For the time being, I've suggested Jasper's, but I came across Sweet Dreams Organic Bakery & Cafe in my search. It sounds pretty intriguing, so I think I might change our destination. In the meantime, has anyone else been or do you suggest something better near Glenview/Northfield, etc? I'll post my review if we go.

Jasper's has now changed management and is called Hamilton's, I think, and I don't know if the menu and etc. is the same. Sweet Dreams Cafe, which I wrote (with a link to its site) about on some other thread related to organic bakeries (can't remember where now) is very nice -- a very comfortable ladies-who-lunch north shorey sort of place (and I mean that in a good way in this case). They have nice homemade soups and sandwiches and quiches etc. along with baked goods, some of which are low-fat or non-dairy or whatever. They serve Intelligentsia coffee too. It's really an upscale coffee house, though, so if you are looking for a Jasper-type sit down diner with egg dishes and etc. it wouldn't be the right place. But for a comfortable place to sit with a friend with a great cup of coffee and a nice salad, it's perfect.

Darn, I wish I went to Sweet Dreams. I called Sweet Dreams this morning, and the person who answered led me to believe that their breakfast choices were limited to scones and muffins, etc. We ended up at Einsteins Bros.

I did notice that Jasper's changed to Hamilton's now.

I'm definitely going to suggest Sweet Dreams for next time. Thanks.

Oddly enough, I saw a sign on a newly rehabbed building on Western and Washington advertising that Sweet Dreams Organic Bakery and Cafe would be opening soon. Odd choice of a location, but it will be great for the neighborhood.

hey i saw that this morning too! i was actually just going to post it in the opening/closing thread... are the two related? ...it does seem like an odd choice for a new bakery, but then again there are a lot of new condos going up in that area. but if they're delivering stuff it's a convenient location to many places...

The crustless quiche is outstanding, but almost always goes quickly.

The organic green-jasmine tea is worth trying, though it can be uneven, ranging from really good to sublime.

Perhaps since it is opening up in a somewhat obscure location I'll be able to snag some of that quiche before other people get to it!
