Friend is needing a place to eat, decent Italian food, under $20 per entree or so. She is coming from Romeoville to meet someone coming from Darien so places near halfway in between are best. Looking for help - I'm totally blank!!! Thank you!!

You might want to give Vincitori in Westmont a shot. We've been there 2-3 times since they moved to this larger location and a couple times in their older location and have always been pretty well pleased.

The three places listed below are decent Italian, fit into your price range, and are between Romeoville and Darien. Suparossa is my favorite of the three, but Clara's definitely has the best pasta.

    Nonnie's

I agree Suparossa is pretty decent, if no more than that.

Or, if you do not care so much about the food, there is a Home Run Inn right about 1/4 mile east on 75th.

There is a Capri south of I55 on County Line a bit further east. I have not had great reports on that outpost, so I suppose Suparossa is a better choice, but Capri can be quite good.

    How far can you drive?

These days, the best place in that area, but it is quite a few miles away, would be Pasta Amore at 87th and route 59. Nearer by, I think there is a failry new Italian place in downtown Downers Grove. Don't know the name and have no report to pass along.

I hope some of that is helpful.

I knew that I could count on everyone. Now I need some suggestions for a place to have something to eat for a memorial service. I'm leaning toward the south suburbs, east of Joliet and no further south. No idea about attendance yet, possibly 50-100 and I would like to keep things around $15 per person if possible, probably a late lunch or munchies and drinks. The person we are remembering was too young, he loved food and he was very earthy and casual, so even catering is not out of the question. Any suggestions? Sorry if I'm not giving enough detail, been a bad weekend as you might guess.

I've been waiting to give someone this recommendation. You didn't say when your friend will be having lunch, but I would highly recommend Carlucci in Downers Grove for their $5 pasta special at lunch (at I-355 and Butterfield). The atmosphere is really nice and the pasta for delicious. If they decide to not take advantage of the $5 pasta, they can take advantage of the wine for a penny if they go on Friday.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend who passed away.
My recommendation would be White Fence Farm on Joliet Road in Lemont. If you've never been there, the atmosphere is a friendly, slightly run-down and kooky family farm. The food is right in your price range and the chicken is delicious. Also, since the food is served family-style it might be nice for everyone, comfort-wise.
