Zacateca's (I like the branch at Richmond and Diversey) has very good licuado's but limited flavor choices (strawberry, peach, pineapple and banana, I believe)-with cinnamon. El Paisa's (around 3600 block of Fullerton) also very good and La Dona will often refill your glass with what's left in the blender (especially for small children). Irazu (o.k, it's in Bucktown) has very good shakes--the famous oatmeal (sooo much better than it sounds) but tons of other flavors, too.

    Although, not technically Humbolt Park......
Miraim at IRAZU (Milwaukee -south of Armitage) serves up some very yummy ones- including my favorite - a "Mamey" licquado, Papaya, mango Strawberry, and lots of others including an "oatmeal" one as well..
A recent "find" includes JUGOS NATURALES- 2943 W. Irving Park- where I had a great "aqua de Melon" and a Mamey licquado- full of flavor- and lots of "energy" supplements avail. as well- kind of a Latin/in-da-hood version of Jamba Juice....plus they have sandwiches as well (I wanted to try the "Cubano"- but was already full from my Licquado)

Thanks for the recs folks, anything closer to humboldt park? this is actually for a firend who'd love to slurp down something cold while walking the dog in the park.

I enjoy irazu's shakes as well, but there a little far to walk to

I unfortunately haven't been to Maiz on California in a while, but you might see if they've brought back their agua frescas. Last time I was there, it was early spring and they didn't have them -- it might be a seasonal item. The agua fresca de pepino is one of my favorite soft drinks and nowhere nearly as easy to make as I would've thought, even with what seems to be a pretty solid recipe.

hey, you've reminded me, the other day I saw a very brightly painted ice cream truck of sorts (on Ashland near Division I believe) that said "Aguas Frescas" and I think it said "Licuados" too. Whatever it actually said, it was apparent that it was a roving Mexican licuado/agua fresca truck. Has anyone else seen it? Has anyone bought anything from it? I couldn't tell if it is something that does really rove or if it parks itself at street festivals and such.
