Today, on my way to work, I passed a big black smoker locked to a street sign on Illinois just in front of Fox and Obel. It was billowing white clouds of smoke and spreading that smoky smell across the tony corridors of Streeterville. I'm not sure what this portends--I've had the smoked, pulled pork at Fox and Obel and have not been moved to do so a second time--but this old school smoking in a new school 'hood warmed my heart this morning.
