last night at a terrific Slow Food event where we saw 'living on the wedge', a road trip movie of wisconsin cheesemakers, featuring chicago's own official forager, mari coyne, we were served slices of 2 different breads by' Crust', to accompany the cheeses. 'Crust' is the name on the label. i talked to the breadmaker but forgot to get his real name. one offering was apple cider bread-very moist and with great texture. the other one, which i took home with me, is an all organic wheat bread with rye berries, flax seed, sunflower seeds, oats, cracked wheat and sea salt. it was unusually moist and i was told it will stay fresh for 5 days, though i doubt if my loaf will last that long. because i've tried a lot of wheat breads and thought this was exceptional, i thought i'd post about it. the bread is available at the uptown farmers market (i have no details about that) and at a store in the merchandise mart called artisan cellars as well as by mail. (email--crustbread@mac.com). its not cheap, $5 for a small oval loaf that weighed about .8lbs. and a larger one for $8. justjoan

Joan, I wonder if this is the place:

website is a little limited but they say that they are "at the Edgewater Green Market on Saturdays from 8:00AM to 1:00PM throughout the summer. The market will be located at the corner of Norwood and Broadway (6034 N.)."
