Feed the Beast

Anyone been to Feed the Beast? It's in north center on lincoln near the Jewel.
I went there last night or dinner. Yummy lobster teaser appetizer. We had the tuna melt and a burger for dinner. They were fine just nothing special. We'd come back for drinks and appetizers but I'd skip this place for dinner.

PS The wait staff was VERY attentive.

We went to Feed the Beast the day they got their liquor license. They were still in soft-opening stage. The BYO signs were on the windows when I went in (with my O), but were taken down by the time my friends arrived. (They honored BYO all night, but had booze available.) I had not written about our experience because I want to give the place another shot. We had service and food blips, but I'm willing to give them slack for being brand new and really crowded. I liked the space -- it was much brighter than Bransfield's, the previous incarnation. When we go back, I'll report here.

I went to Feed The Beast at the request of a friend who had just been saturday night. She loved it and wanted to go back so we gave up a chance to go to Spacca Napoli for this. It was the wrong decision. I would go back to give it another try but I was very underwhelmed tonight. My friend ordered a sierra mist and the waitress brought a sierra nevada and seemed irked when we told her the mistake, she told us she had trouble pouring it. I had the mini beef tenderloin sandwiches and artichoke bruschetta and my friend also had the sandwiches and a side of ranch chips. It took a good 20 minutes for the food to come out. The sandwiches were dripping in butter (not a bad thing) and then covered with greasy fries and onion rings. I would have liked a more flavorful dish but all I tasted was bread. The bruschetta was nothing more than a few pieces of artichoke on thin bread covered in melted cheese with a very chunky tomato sauce dip. Nothing spectacular. I ordered a beer and was not charged for it at the end. However, I left enough on the table to cover everything. All in all, not the worst food but could certainly use some tweaking. Since they have a large menu, I wouldn't mind trying something else.

My husband and I tried this place a few weeks ago and we were not very impressed with the food. We split the calamari appetizer, which arrived lukewarm and just slathered in hot sauce and blue cheese. It was overkill, flavor-wise. I had the lobster club for dinner, and it was pretty bland. Also, the bread was too soft to support the filling, and I could see a definite "hand imprint" on the top of the sandwich. My husband had a pasta dish that he didn't much care for, I believe it had sausage and mushrooms in it.

Even though we were pretty underwhelmed with the things we ordered, we might try it again in a few months to see if things have improved. We did really like the atmosphere and thought the service was excellent.
