Post #1 - August 19th, 2006, 9:56 pmHey there! This is my first time posting on the forums here but I've been following it since I moved to Chicago for college last year. Anyway I have one quick question.... What is a good romantic date restaurant that's reasonably priced (around $20/person) I'm coming back to Chicago from San Diego on monday and I want to take my girlfriend somewhere special.

Post #2 - August 19th, 2006, 10:10 pmIt would probably exceed your $20 pp limit, (but not by as much as Tru would), but possibly the most romantic daet place would be Geja's. They offer a wide variety of fondues in a dimly lit atmosphere, with occasionally available private booths, and usually a live classical or flamenco guitarist playing in the background. Great wine list, too.
Then there's the whole thing about sharing/cooking your food that can be a somewhat bonding experience.

Post #5 - August 21st, 2006, 12:49 pmAlbeit a little above your $20 range, my boyfriend and I always enjoy Hot Chocolate in Bucktown when we want to treat ourselves. The food is terrific (seasonal and supports local farms) and the desserts are artistic, interesting and delicious.

Post #6 - August 21st, 2006, 1:19 pmOn Tuesdays, Le Bouchon offers any starter, entree and desert for $22. I don't know if I would consider it "romantic", as the tables are pretty closely spaced, and it can get noisy. However, it is pleasant enough, and $22 is a great deal, plus French food is always sort of romantic. I believe their sister restaurant, La Sardine, has a similar Tuesday night special.

It does, and a very good deal it is (at $25). But it's also just as crowded and noisy as the above--not especially romantic unless your idea of such is a raucous French bistro.

Angelina's on Broadway and Addison is a perfect romantic spot. It's also very reasonably priced.

Post #9 - August 22nd, 2006, 9:15 pmI realize I'm late to this post, but I had an excellent meal with Mrs. Johnny recently at Trattoria Caterina. On a nice evening, the patio seating can't be beat! It's BYOB and very reasonably priced. The menu is quite extensive. As long as you stick with any of the Italian dishes, you'll do fine.
