Based on my search results, I don't think this topic has been visited yet, but if it has, I apologize.

My friends are coming into town this weekend for the Triathalon. They are staying at the Travelodge on Jackson (?). They are in search of loading up on the carbs w/pasta for dinner on Saturday night. I am assuming that they would prefer something that would be a short el or cab ride away. I saw the thread on restaurants that make their own pastas. I'm going to look into Merlo on Maple, Luna Caprese, Rosebud Café, and Tuscany. Anything else that comes to mind that I may have missed? Thanks.

    Pucca,

I think the Travelodge is at Harrison and Wabash, does that sound right? Two Italian places close by would be Gioco, about six blocks south on Wabash, or Trattoria No. 10, on Dearborn north of Madison. (There's also Italian Village, but I can never remember which of the three components is the recommended one, never having eaten at any of them.)

Are your friends particularly interested in a LARGE portion of pasta before the event? It's been years since I've eaten there, but I remember the amount of pasta served at Rosebud on Taylor at Laflin as ridiculously huge.

    Amata

There's a Rosebud outpost on Madison just west of Dearborn. La Rosetta serves us pasta a la Rosebud. Large portions; decent stuff.
