A place that may fill the bill--and by the way, the town is Towson that you're asking about--is just up York Road from Towson in Timonium. It's called Michael's Cafe. A nice "bar and grill" with friendly service and decent food. Also on York Road, and slightly closer, in Lutherville, is a more "white tablecloth" place called The Peppermill that's very good.

Don't know if you'll be mobile, but in Baltimore proper, not too far from BWI airport, is the quintessential crab house called Bo Brooks. Haven't been there in about 15 years, but here's what I remember:

Long picnic tables with butcher paper. One can order 3 or 6 or 9 blue crabs, which are the size of two hands. You also get a wooden mallet & a bib. I ordered & was served 6 blues, an order of fries, 2 Buds and went to work. Hammering, picking, eating, drinking, making a huge mess and not caring. Before long I had gone through 5 crabs. I hammered the sixth and immediately hit the wall--I literally waddled out of there.

    What a feast!

    Jnm,

Don't know about Bo Books being the quintessential crab house, but it's pretty damn good. I was there about a year ago, though not at the airport location.

Roy, if you friend is going to be in Baltimore the possibilities are endless. Baltimore is a very good eating town. There are any number of Baltimore threads, here's one to get you started.

    Enjoy,

My God, man, is that a martini I see next to all the crabs? Seems kind of....what's the word....incongruous?

If those were your crabs Gary, you must've been wiping your hands a lot---otherwise you wouldn't have been able to see the olive!

That picture brings back memories, the worst one being that same weekend when I was in the Inner Harbor before my flight back to Chicago, seeing all this great food and being too hungover to eat!

Baltimore is truly a great eatin' town...
