Anyone know the reason Emilio's name is no longer attached to Meson Sabika? Anyone been there lately who can describe the food quality?

    Thanks in advance.

I can't give you an authoritative answer, just what I've heard. (It's been a few years, and my memory isn't what it used to be.) :(

A former chef of Emillo bought the Naperville & Geneva locations (then called Grenada). At the time, it seemed the menu didn't change much. After a year or two, Grenada was converted into a French restaurant (Chez Francois). I assume it's the same owner.

I've been to their Northfield location a few times this summer. Love the bacon-wrapped dates and the serrano ham plate, but I can take or leave their seafood. Last time we had some garlic shrimp that were drowning in butter; normally I embrace all things involving copious amounts of butter or olive oil, but the shrimp didn't taste particularly fresh to me, so the end result was just off-putting and greasy. My inclination is to say that if you stick with simple, classic dishes you'll generally have a good meal, but for me the more complicated hot tapas have often been underwhelming. And one more nitpicky thing: they list one of their desserts as "Flan of the Day", but each time I have eaten there it has simply been plain flan. Plain is fine with me, but I wish they wouldn't get my hopes up by pretending that they vary it. :)

I have been to Tapas Barcelona a few times. The prices are reasonable and the food is not bad at all. I would say that it is a viable option if you are in Evanston and in the mood for tapas, but I wouldn't make a special trip.
