Not just a beef stand that serves Scala's Beef....but "Scala's Beef Stands", owned apparently by the great grandson of Pasquale Scala. Never heard of this place but if they're gonna do it you'd think there might be more than one...and certainly in the Chicago area, not in a Minneapolis suburb.

Anyone been to this place, know anything about it including how long it's been around? Heck, I want one near me!

Interesting. I have never been there. However, years ago, I was at some indie fast food joint in Minneapolis that listed Italian beef sandwiches on the menu. Feeling a little homesick, I ordered one. What I got was a breaded and deep fried hamburger patty with red sauce and melted mozarella on a sub roll. I hope Bobby Scala can find a market there, but judging by my one experience, Italian Beef means something very different in Minnesota. I wonder where he gets his bread?

That is interesting. Given how wildy successful places with a recognized back-home Chicago cache do in certain Sunbelt locales (Phoenix and SW Florida jump to mind), the Twin Cities seems offbeat.

Joey D's Chicago Style Eatery in Minneapolis, owned and operated by two Chicago boys, has been serving Vienna Beef hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches for the last 12 years. I've never tried their Italian beef, but can attest to the goodness & authenticity of their Vienna Beef dogs. A "must stop" when we visit relatives in Edina.

Scala's in Maple Grove, MN has been closed for a little while.

The reigning Italian beef sandwiches in MSP are Uncle Franky's in NE Minneapolis and Brianno's in Eagan, MN.

Kinda silly to have the website up and running then.
My apologies if I sent someone there if it doesn't exist, but at least I'll know where to go (and where NOT to) next time I'm in the Twin Cities.
