We're seeing a show tomorrow night at Park West. I know it's short notice, but can anyone recommend a nice dinner stop somewhere nearby? It's located at 333 W Armitage. Thanks.

Stanley's is very close, and they have a lot of kinds of bourbon, if you like that (I do). Last time I went to Park West we stopped in there and they had a buffet (maybe they wouldn't on a Friday night?) I picked it for expediency, since I didn't want to be late to the show. The food sat a little too much, but it wasn't horrible. I've had better food there ordering off the menu.

What about Merlo on Lincoln? (Sorry, I don't have the address handy).

Riccardo Trattoria is a nice, romantic Italian - next to the overly crowded Pizaa & Oven Grinder. There was some chatter here:

Long time lurker, first time poster. My wife used to live at Cleveland and Lincoln and we had a few favorites near there. Four Farthings has a nice variety and is definitely a step above standard bar food. Green Tea is a nice little sushi place with just a few tables. Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder has been discussed at length on the board, but I really enjoy it. Beware of a possible long wait there.
    Hope this helps.

I'll second Riccardo Trattoria for semi-upscale Italian. Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder is great for a casual place, but there may be a wait to get in. For another casual place, have you thought about R. J. Grunts - the original Lettuce Entertain You restaurant?

Another thought - right next door is possibly the most romantic restaurant in the city - Geja's. Fondue accompanied by flamenco guitar.

I've also heard that Zia's, which is basically on top of Geja's, is good for Mexican/Southwestern, plus it's BYOB. But I haven't tried it personally.

Second Stanley's - above average pub food, really fantastic fried chicken and great bourbon's and beers. Tater tots available as a side, which is a huge plus.

Four Farthings and Stanley's are good recommendations for above-average bar food nearby. R.J. Grunts also is right there (on Lincoln Park West) and is good for burgers, etc., and is kind of a quirky place (the original Rich Melman restaurant, as most people probably already know).

If you're looking for something a little more upscale, Mon Ami Gabi is right on the park and is a relatively nice place with good bistro fare, IMO. Also, Adobo Grill is relatively close to the Park West -- closer to the intersection of North and Wells, actually, but not too far south of the Lincoln/Sedgwick/Armitage area.

fela - I wondered about the reference to your name when I saw you post another time and now I know I was right! I'm going to the show tonight too and have been looking for a place to eat around there. Hopefully this thread will prove helpful to me too.
