I have a problem, an embarrassing one that, until now, I kept secret with the young girls that serve me my bulgogi combos at Ricebox. It involves a sickenly-sweet mayonaise-type dressing that they use on their cabbage salads that accompany the combos. I love it. Not for just the serving that's on my salad, but for the two more times I go back up for "refills" to counteract the extreme spice that I ask for on the veggie stirfry. Sweet and spicy--the perfect marriage. And now I must find jugs of it to keep in my fridge for private consumption.

What is it?? Any idea where I can find it??

I take it you are refering to the "cole slaw" dressing they use in most of the bentos. I never took it to be anything more that Japanise Mayo thinned out with some vinegar and sesame oil and a healthy dose of sugar added. You can find the mayo at pretty much any Asian grocery.

If no one knows exactly what it is, I'll head over for lunch on Tuesday (I'm off work tomorrow.... hmmm... anyone hungry? ) and ask what goes in it.

I also love, love, love that salad, but I also assume it's a homemade dressing with mayo and sugar and maybe some vinegar. The bento boxes at Rice Box are awesome. The salmon teriyaki is my regular there.

I'm almost sure that the mayo they use is KewPie brand. There's no hurt in asking next time you're in there

Not happening. The owner's young daughter won't budge. "Yeh, we mix some things with mayonnaise."

I've noticed that there is one daughter who is super friendly and one who is a bit frosty. Haven't seen the super-friendly one in a while. But, if she's working, maybe she's the one to ask? Good luck. I'm also a fan and eat there a couple times a month. It satiates my kimchee fix!
