Hi all,
Last night at a party, my brother in law (who knows I love to cook and eat weird things) asked if I had ever been to a place in very south Chicago or perhaps the south suburbs called Zimmer's (not sure of the spelling). He didn't know the exact address though, nor had he ever been there himself. It's apparently a good butcher that sells all sorts of exotic meats like rattlesnake and bear and the like. I'd love to get my hands on some of these types of meats without the extra cost of mailordering, but a Google search turned up nothing.
If not this place--anyone know of anywhere else I can get exotic meats? I vaguely remember some place that got cited for selling some endangered species a while back (tiger maybe?); maybe it's the same place as Zimmer's? I certainly don't condone eating anything endangered, but other than that I'll try anything once!

You're thinking of:
Czimer's Game & Sea Foods Inc
13136 W 159th
Homer Glen, IL 60491-8768
Phone: (708)301-0500
and yes, it has had some controversy associated with it.

Thanks for the info.
Any similar places that don't have ethical problems?
Or thoughts on whether it's ethical to shop at a place that had problems in the past (assuming they've "learned their lesson")?
