Post #1 - September 27th, 2006, 9:20 amIva Toguri, proprietress of J. Toguri Mercantile on Belmont, has died at 90. Since her store has been mentioned in several threads here from time to time, I thought it appropriate to note her passing. While it wasn't the most complete source for Japanese food products, it was conveniently located. More important, Mrs. Toguri was a very sweet woman who always made it a pleasure to stop in. Post #2 - September 27th, 2006, 9:23 amGrowing up, I heard the rumor many times from many sources that Ms. Toguri was Tokyo Rose of WWII fame. The femme fatal who broadcast propaganda for the Japanese to our servicemen. Does anyone know if these rumors are true?

I was just talking about her last week related to her Tokyo Rose past. The conversation concluded with us debating whether she was long dead or still alive. Thanks for highlighting this obituary.
