Mr. Fig's birthday is right around the corner and we usually decide to splurge and try one of the high-end places we don't normally frequent. This year we're on a budget so I have to get more creative. We love all food - especially spicy (Thai, Mexican) and fatty (bistro, Hot Dougs).

We'll probably go out on Tuesday it has to be open then. We live in Pilsen, but will travel up north (just prefer something south of Addison). Budget is under $100 per person (including drinks, tip). Help me think of those restaurants that I'm just blocking!

You could go to La Sardine. The Tuesday night prix-fixe dinner is now up to $25, which would still leave you plenty for a great bottle of wine--or two-- and a generous tip. What's wonderful about the La Sardine prix fixe--besides the food and the price :D --is that you can pick any appetizer or salad, any entree, and any dessert (get a souffle).

I second the La Sardine idea, I've never had anything but a great meal there.

Not too far from you is cuatro. I've had some very good and interesting meals there recently, and the vibe is certainly appropriate for a special-but-let's-not-bust-the-bank occasion:

if you're in Pilsen... and decide NOT to go high end (and La Sardine shouldn't be considered "high end"), a really nice meal can be had at Cocina Mestiza, literally down the street from you.

For $100+BYOB, you will dine like a king and then some @ MCM. i always figured a smorgasbord crepe would be the perfect way to start the post dinner activities. Otherwise, May Street Cafe may also fit the bill nicely.
