We know most of the BYOs, and like Speakeasy, Mundial Cafe, Terragusto, Schwa, HB, a host of thai and mexican places. Any suggestions for other interesting/good food BYOBs?

I'm impressed. The Reader lists 369 BYOs in the area - of course that's not a complete list. I'd be lucky to say I visited 100 of them myself - how did you get to know most of the BYOs?

Okay, okay. I don't know ALL the BYO's, but like you I've probably sampled at least 100. I meant that I was looking for some quality food for the exceptional wine I'm expecting my friend to bring, that I might have overlooked. Thanks, Cathy for the thread, but it seems a bit dated (Lovitt is still listed), and I was only hoping that LTHers might know of some new exciting place.

Sol de Mexico isn't in the original list (which still has value, even though it's old).

These places do well by BYOBers, and have good food, too.

    Palmito

    Tagine

    Chef Amaury's Epicurean Affair
    630/375-0426
    www.chefamaury.com
    481 N. Commons Drive
    Aurora
(open Fridays & Saturdays only; has a nice wine list but allows BYOB for $10 corkage)

I was somewhat less impressed by Glenn's Diner's BYOB service; for $5 corkage, they ought to do more than plunk a couple of juice glasses on the table.

    LAZ,

They do, you get the Eames designed child-seat wine bucket rest. :)

During my most recent trip to Glen's, I noticed that the chalkboard read "Coming soon, beer and wine". This was a few weeks ago.

    Best,

That notice has been up for at least a month now, although we did get a complimentary glass of champagne a few weeks ago for their one year anniversary celebration.

Are you looking for a particular food recommendation? What sort of wine is your friend bringing? (good you said, but - Napa cab? Barolo? Bordeaux? Aussie Sauvignon Blanc?)

    We were drinking red wine.

I like the food at Glenn's, but we had a number of service issues.

Just seen on del.icio.us: Dr. Vino's Google Map of Chicago BYOB restaurants..

42 locations so far, but with an invitation to suggest others.

Let me add Adria Mare to the list, since it might be flying under the radar. Very good seafood risottos among other offerings:

I'll second Adria Mare - the owner and his wife used to work in some of the big resort hotels in Split, on the Adriatic.

I'll also add as an upscale "good food" BYO:

    Think Cafe
    2235 N. Western Ave., Chicago
