Nice bday dinner

Looking for a nice dinner tomorrow night for my friends (including a bday) and I who have just moved here. She unfortunately isnt very venturesome so we need to stay to the basics. Im thinking a nice italian family style or tapas (although there will be no squid eaten) type place, or meat and potatoes. Either in the downtown, old town, LP, WP etc area. Should be a nice place but def not too pricey I know this is very open but I am looking for solid suggestions/faves because it is too difficult to search.

can't go wrong @ bin 36 cafe on milwaukee or scylla on damen, both in your hood.
