Free Senseo Coffee Maker

I was bored a few weeks ago, playing around on the internet when I came across this offer. Originally I thought it was a joke or scam, but my Senseo machine showed up at my door yesterday.

The coffee is actually pretty good!

Only in the sense that you have to buy their pods to use their coffee maker, I presume.

Not that I've found. In the box with the maker there are a number of pamplets of information to hand out when you hold a 'Senseo Party'. Other than that There isn't anything I've come across.

This is true, but when regularly priced at $4.99 for 18 pods it isn't really a bad deal to pay about $.25 for a cup of coffee.

What I really like about this machine is that I can get my mug of coffee in about 1 minute from start to finish.

I didn't say it's a bad deal. It's a perfectly reasonable strategy for a manufacturer who knows people won't spend $50 just to be able to try something to see if they like it.

More things than most people think are sold that way. Your Gilette razor and your HP printer both cost more than what you paid for them to make; your TiVo has a hard drive in it that costs more than you paid for the whole box.

I'd be pretty interested to know the algorithm by which they determine if you're eligible. They ask you a whole bunch of questions about how you network, communicate, and advocate for products. They are not just trying to get you to buy their pods, they're trying to get the machines in the hands of people who will convince other people to buy them. Really a nice marketing idea, I think.

I'm curious, too. I filled out the survey and didn't receive a Senseo, but forwarded the link to a friend who received his coffee maker last week. What did I do wrong?

Yeah, we do a little work with this sort of thing, though never yet as a free give away like this. I can imagine their algorithm, but I'm still curious to know precisely what it is, having looked at some of these issues myself.

Being a sucker for a free thing, I went and filled it out, and recieved an email saying I will know in 2-4 weeks whether or not I get a free coffeemaker. It will be interesting to know if that means I did or I didn't (If I didn't, it's probably that I was noncomittal about flavored coffee, which I am)

Definitely, Flip - you should go back and demand free coffee pods!

They sent a bag of free pods, medium roast, with the machine. Once I flushed the machine per the instructions (yeah, I actually read them) I immediately made a cup of coffee. Suprisingly, it was very good. In fact, I now have started the habit of filling my thermal cup before I leave the house in the morning instead of using our machine at work which produces a fairly watered down product. The only problem I have is that the distance from the spout to the base is too small to fit my large cup under. I've been brewing into a measuring cup and pouring it into my mug.

I figure I now am saving about $10/wk over my old habit of stopping at Starbuck's or Caribou on my trip to the office, and I actually enjoy the flavor more.

PS: About the email, I got my confirmation email in less than a week, then they sent an email that I had to register to recieve the maker within 4-6 weeks. Less than 1 week later it was delivered by DHL

The whole idea behind this is to get it into someones hands who is part of a group of people who meet regularly....book clubs,community groups,etc.

I got a free box of snack-size Take Five candy bars from BzzAgent. My only responsibility was to give them away (that is, leave them in the kitchen in my office), and answer a five or six question survey a few days after they were delivered.

It's definitely in the same vein -- and active LTH posters are generally just the kind of people these folks want to tap. It potentially runs a risk of crossing the thin line into shilling, but the BzzAgent people, at least, are quite clear that you don't need to hide your connection to them.

I filled out the survey, recommended the site to a couple of others way back in October. Have heard nothing since, and shortly after filling out the survey, I went back to the website and the offer was gone.

No e-mail, no coffee maker. Wonder if it became too successful, and they took it down.

funny -- I was just thinking about the same thing yesterday. no one that I recommended heard anything either. I was able to dig up the email that said "You will be notified in approximately 2-4 weeks whether you are eligible to receive a free Senseo® coffee machine. Should you be eligible, this second email will provide specific instructions on how to register." which maybe leads me to believe we should be notified either way?? or they just ran out

So, I too, filled out the survey back in early October and, other than the confirmation email I was sent at the same time, heard nothing back from them until Sunday evening. I received an email apologizing for the delay (apparently due to the huge response they received and the fact that they ran out of machines fairly quickly), but offering a new promotion (the "Special Edition Share Senseo® promotion") that appears to provide pretty much the same as before - a Senseo® Coffee Pod System, 2 bags of Senseo® coffee blends, canisters for pod storage, and a Sara Lee coupon. The only catch is that I have to cover S&H costs of $15. Once I fill out the registration, it says they will send the machine in 2-4 weeks.

Has anyone else received this offer?

I had the same experience, and also now have received the offer for the coffee maker, etc for $15 S&H.

Here's an interesting one. I filled out the questionaire using two different e-mail addresses. As far as I know, I answered both questionaires exactly the same except for on the second one I changed the answer about flavored coffees from disagree to somewhat agree. I got the offer on the second application but not the first.

I might have answered a few other questions slightly differently the second time, but that is the only one I know I changed for sure. They probably give you a certain number of points for each answer and that was enough to push me over the threshold. (Actually I STRONGLY dislike flavored coffees myself. I forbid them in my coffee maker, because you can never completely get rid of the taste)

Funny, because that was what I said, as I agree - I can't stand flavored coffee (unless I flavor it myself, post-brew)

I got the $15 s/h email yesterday and decided to go for it. I don't even drink coffee (well, I get a latte or the like about once a month), but figured someone I know will enjoy it. Seems a similar set sells for about $70 at Amazon.

I also received the new offer asking for $15 S&H. free stuff! Did you guys have to fill out an extra survey after giving your info, or is that optional? Also, does anyone know if the coffemaker is compatible with other brands of pods? I don't really drink coffee, but i could use it for tea or hot chocolate or something.

Sorry to see that most of you that filled this out have since been hit up for a $15 fee. So far, they haven't contacted me since about 2 weeks after the machine arrived. I have used the machine fairly regularly on my way out the door, and on the weekends.

Some things I've noticed:

1. I must like weaker coffee because I either hit the 1 serving button twice or the double serving using a single pod. For my travel mugs I use the double serving button twice and use 2 pods.

2. The machine itself does not hold much water. I get about 1 travel mug per fill. (This isn't a problem unless I forget to add water)



Overall it takes up the same amount of room as a regular coffee maker, but I don't have to deal with the mess of grinding beans.

I must have answered the survey questions to their standards as I too received the $15 S/H offer which I decided to accept since it is still considerably cheaper than the market price. I do not believe that I had to fill out another survey.
