long-time lurker here, finally posting to solicit suggestions from the pros. I work in the loop and my company offers free lunch, which usually means ordering out from one of a handful of places as most everyone eats at their desk (slaves to stock market hours). I find myself simultaneously bored with most all of the regulars (jimmy john's free for 3 months and counting), while trying (once again) to clean up my diet. short of becoming a vegetarian, I'd like to eat as natural/organic as possible, and keep it within the loop, under $8, and quick to order.
I hope it's not blasphemous to ask such a question, as I certainly have no issue with the holes-in-the-walls around town, and aspire to try them all, but at least for these 5 weekly meals, I'd like to keep it healthy.
the challenge for me is that I don't consider a mcdonald's salad to be "healthy" - I do find myself caring more and more about quality of ingredients, not just the superficial calories/fat approach to health. so am I destined for quixotic hunger, or is there a place for us greenies to satisfy our prandial paradox - "fast" food that is not fast food?
I appreciate (and can hopefully try) any suggestions, and for the record I have had one too many lunches from sopraffina, have pockets on the docket, and just learned of spa cafe. here's hoping I won't have to (gasp) start bringing in my own lunch.
